Medical Saigon Group accompanies Vietnam Ophthalmology through its academic contributions at VOS 2025

The Vietnam Ophthalmology Society (VOS) 2025 Congress, a major and prestigious annual event in the field of Ophthalmology, officially concluded in Hai Phong after several days of vibrant and productive work. This year’s event held special significance as it was organized to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society (1960 – 2025) and marked an important step towards the goal of ‘Vision 2030 – The Right to Sight’.

The Congress gathered over 2,000 delegates, including leading professors, doctors, and experts from Vietnam and internationally, serving as a platform for updating and sharing the latest trends and advanced techniques. The event was also honored by the presence of Mr. Vu Manh Ha, Permanent Deputy Minister of Health, and Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee.

Medical Saigon Group contributed 10 high-quality scientific papers, which were the result of research and clinical experience gained from six specialized ophthalmology hospitals within the Group: Saigon Eye Hospital Can Tho, Saigon Eye Hospital Nha Trang, Saigon Eye Hospital Vinh, Saigon Eye Hospital Ngo Gia Tu, Saigon Eye Hospital Duong Lang, and Cao Thang Eye Hospital.

Specifically, the presentation titled ‘Application of the Weak ZIN System Fixation Device for Phaco Surgery’ by Master, Dr. Nguyen Trong Duc, Deputy Director of Professional Affairs at Saigon Eye Hospital Can Tho, outstandingly secured the First Prize in the Cataract and Refractive Surgery session. This achievement is not only a personal honor but also a vivid testament to the profound professional competence, innovative spirit, and ability to tackle complex surgical cases demonstrated by the team of doctors within the Saigon Eye Hospital System.

Diverse Topics in Specialized Research

Other presentations also reflected the depth of expertise across various fields. In the Refractive Surgery specialty, results from ‘corneal topography-guided personalized refractive surgery’ on patients undergoing myopia correction using EYESignature™ technology at the hospital, as well as comprehensive evaluations of the ReLEx SMILE technique and the application of corneal topography-linked laser, were presented. The Cataract Surgery field was clarified through the results of advanced Phaco surgery with intraocular lens implantation and methods for endothelial cell protection.

The studies on Cornea provided valuable data on Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy, while the Pediatric Ophthalmology topic delved into controlling myopia progression, early treatment of congenital cataracts, and issuing warnings about vision risks, reflecting a comprehensive outlook on school-age eye health.
