Update on Implementation of 6 International Patient Safety Goals in April 2025 at Medical Saigon Group (MSG)

Continuing our commitment to the 6 International Patient Safety Goals, in April 2025, MSG hospitals nationwide implemented important activities focusing on “Reducing risks of healthcare-associated infections” – a core element in ensuring safety in patient care and treatment.

Hand hygiene is a critical measure for infection prevention and control, fostering a safe and clean environment for patients, their families, and hospital staff.

Key activities in April 2025 included:

Staff training: All staff participated in courses on routine hand hygiene  and surgical hand hygiene procedures, followed by post-training assessments.
On-site monitoring: Each hospital’s supervision team tracked and checked compliance with hand hygiene procedures across all departments.

Creative video contest: A competition to convey the message of “Enhancing hand hygiene compliance” through creative videos, aiming to improve hand hygiene among staff (during examinations, treatments, patient care, etc.) and educate patients and families about hand hygiene.

In April 2025, MSG hospitals focused on understanding and improving Goal 5: “Reducing risks of healthcare-associated infections.” Hand hygiene is an extremely important measure for infection prevention and control.

April’s theme emphasized:

  • Enhancing awareness about the importance of hand hygiene.
  • Proper hand hygiene is the simplest yet most effective measure for preventing hospital infections, helping to protect both patients and healthcare staff.
  • Compliance with hand hygiene practices in all patient-care procedures.
  • Every individual in the healthcare environment – from doctors and nurses to support staff – needs to practice hand hygiene at the right time and in the right way according to WHO recommendations, and raise hand hygiene awareness among patients and families.
  • Building a safe environment and sustainable infection control.
  • Developing hand hygiene habits is fundamental to creating a safe healthcare environment, minimizing cross-infection, and improving treatment quality.
