Scientific and Technical Conference 2025: over 400 medical experts discuss enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment

The 2025 Scientific and Technical Conference brought together more than 400 medical experts, creating a forum for updating medical advances, sharing experiences, and promoting cooperation to enhance the quality of medical examination and treatment.

On September 20, the Medical Saigon Group (MSG) successfully organized the 2025 Scientific and Technical Conference under the theme: “Modern Technology, JCI Quality.” The program was not only a place to update the latest medical advances but also a forum for networking, experience sharing, and promoting the enhancement of professional quality across the entire industry. By updating medical advances and new progress, the conference contributes to the overall development of the healthcare sector.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director General of the Department of Medical Service Administration (Ministry of Health), delivered a speech at the conference.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Huynh Le Duc, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medical Saigon Group, stated: “The 2025 Scientific and Technical Conference is an annual event for Medical Saigon Group. We are steadfast in placing the patient at the center, aiming to apply JCI standards in the medical examination and treatment activities for patients across all hospitals in our system. Simultaneously, we are expanding strategic cooperation with academic and technology partners to promote training, research, and technology transfer into practice.”

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director General of the Department of Medical Service Administration (Ministry of Health), shared: “In the near future, the Ministry of Health will continue to implement numerous solutions to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment. Currently, the healthcare sector is applying a set of 83 quality assessment criteria, but the goal is to develop and issue a national standard set for hospital quality by 2026.”

Dr. Ha Anh Duc emphasized that this set of standards may not be entirely identical to JCI or other international benchmarks, but in a spirit of receptiveness, the Ministry of Health will select and adjust criteria to suit the reality in Vietnam, while still approaching international standards.

According to the Director General of the Department of Medical Service Administration, international standard sets will have many beneficial aspects when applied in Vietnam, but also some unsuitable points. However, this should not deter us; we need to proceed in a scientific manner.

Regarding the private sector, the Ministry of Health consistently encourages its development. Over the past period, the Ministry of Health has made efforts to simplify and shorten licensing procedures while still ensuring professional quality, aiming to create the most favorable conditions for private hospitals to contribute alongside the public healthcare system.

The Ministry of Health is developing a project to develop medical tourism, with Ophthalmology identified as a key field. With excellent service quality, modern facilities, streamlined processes, and a highly skilled professional team, Vietnam’s ophthalmology sector is fully capable of attracting international guests who wish to combine tourism with healthcare.

The professional board consisted of leading experts and doctors from both the public and private sectors.

This year’s conference gathered over 400 medical experts with more than 50 multidisciplinary scientific reports, spanning key areas such as ophthalmology, general practice, pharmacy, laboratory testing, and nursing. These figures demonstrate the strong transformation of the healthcare system—constantly learning, innovating, and placing the patient at the center. With a professional board consisting of members with solid academic and clinical management backgrounds from both the public and private sectors, the program ensured depth, relevance, and practical applicability, while maintaining a continuous focus on patient safety and clinical quality according to international standards.

Within the framework of the conference, Medical Saigon Group (MSG) signed two strategic cooperation agreements with Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine (PNT) and DKSH Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Alcon’s distribution partner in Vietnam). The cooperation with PNT affirms MSG’s commitment to sustainable development, promoting scientific research, and creating learning and practical opportunities for the future generation of doctors. Under the agreement with DKSH Vietnam, the two parties will enhance the supply of ophthalmology surgical equipment and FDA-standard intraocular lenses from Alcon, while also boosting international training and technology transfer, helping MSG’s doctors improve their expertise and research capability.

At the conference, Cao Thắng Eye Hospital, part of Medical Saigon Group, was honored to receive its 6th JCI certification and was recognized with a Southeast Asian record for “The eye healthcare facility with JCI quality certification that has maintained it continuously for the longest period in Southeast Asia from 2009 to 2025.”
