Medical Saigon Group and Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine Forge Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Healthcare Ecosystem
On September 20, 2025, Medical Saigon Group (MSG) and Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in the journey toward developing a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare ecosystem.
Developing a sustainable medical workforce
Accordingly, the two parties will collaborate to organize continuing training programs aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of the medical staff working at hospitals within the Medical Saigon Group. Concurrently, MSG’s hospitals, especially the Sài Gòn Eye Hospital system, will serve as practical training facilities for postgraduate programs and aim for official recognition as training centers for the undergraduate program.

The signing representatives at the ceremony included Mr. Huynh Le Duc, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medical Saigon Group, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. of Pharmacy Nguyễn Đăng Thoại, Acting Vice Rector of Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine. The event was witnessed by Mr. Nguyễn Phi Long, Vice Group Chief Executive Officer of Medical Saigon Group; Dr. Hoàng Trung Kiên, Level II Specialist, Professional Director of Medical Saigon Group; Dr. Trương Công Minh, Level II Specialist, Executive Director of Mắt Sài Gòn Lê Thị Riêng; and Dr. Đoàn Kim Thành, Vice Head of the Center in charge of Executive Management at Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine.
Mr. Huynh Le Duc, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medical Saigon Group, shared: “The strategic cooperation between Medical Saigon Group and Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine is a particularly important landmark in our direction towards sustainable development. This is not just a connection between a healthcare corporation and a prestigious university, but also a practical step towards developing a comprehensive medical ecosystem—where training, research, and practice are tightly linked. We believe this cooperation will contribute to improving the quality of the medical workforce, expanding learning and practical opportunities for future generations of doctors, and creating a solid foundation for Vietnam’s health sector to deeply integrate with international standards.”
Boosting scientific research
The cooperation also aims to promote scientific research. The two sides commit to jointly implement research projects in the medical field, with the goal of publishing results in domestic and international specialized journals. Furthermore, MSG will accompany the university in developing human resources through scholarship programs for final-year medical students, career orientation workshops, and practical visits to Sài Gòn Eye Hospital.

On the university’s side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. of Pharmacy Nguyễn Đăng Thoại, Acting Vice Rector of Phạm Ngọc Thạch University of Medicine, also expressed his confidence: “We believe that the cooperation with Medical Saigon Group will provide our students and medical staff with more opportunities for practical training and scientific research. This partnership will create a solid bridge between theory and practice, contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce for the health sector.”

Both units are committed to fully implementing the agreed-upon contents in a spirit of mutual respect and support, for the common goal of improving the quality of training and community healthcare. This deep cooperation is aimed at developing a modern, humane, and sustainable healthcare ecosystem.

- The Saigon Eye Hospital System, the largest specialized eye hospital system in Vietnam (recognized by the World Records Union – Vietnam Records Association, establishing the record for Sài Gòn Eye Hospital – the largest non-public specialized eye hospital and clinic system in Vietnam in 2024).
- Cao Thang Eye Hospital, which has achieved its 6th JCI certification (2009–2025) and holds the Southeast Asian Record for “The first specialized eye medical facility in Vietnam to achieve JCI quality certification and maintain it continuously for the longest period.”
- The Saigon General Hospital System located in Tam Ky, Hoi An, Nha Trang, and Phan Rang.
