Recently, representatives from Medical Saigon Group (MSG) attended the 19th Annual Meeting of the World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH), held in Paris (France) and Basel (Switzerland). This prestigious forum convenes global ophthalmology leaders, focusing on sharing operational management knowledge and shaping quality standards in healthcare, under the theme: “Pioneering Innovation – Global Connectivity – Elevating Eye Care.”
The WAEH 2025 meeting was jointly organized by three leading institutions: Hôpital ophtalmique Jules-Gonin (Switzerland), Hôpital National des 15-20, and Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild (France). It attracted over 100 delegates from more than 20 countries, including pioneering experts and leaders in the field of ophthalmology.

Grasping the global eye care strategy 2026–2031
The core focus of the 2025 Annual Meeting was the in-depth discussion sessions on the Strategy, Structure, and Governance of WAEH for the 2026–2031 period. This detailed blueprint aims to position WAEH as the world’s leading knowledge and expertise hub for the organization and management of eye care services, differentiating itself from clinical associations that primarily focus on medical techniques.

During the five working days in Switzerland and France, experts exchanged views on various critical topics shaping the future of the global eye sector, such as the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ophthalmology, solutions for low vision rehabilitation, patient-centric hospital design, modern refractive surgery technology, and sustainable development – the Sustainable Eye Hospital model.

Activities at the conference
WAEH’s new strategy centers on the mission to “Connect, inspire and support the world’s leading eye hospitals.” The goal is to establish international best practices and foster collaborative projects to enhance the knowledge-sharing network.

Dr. Tran Van Ket, commented: “WAEH is emphasizing the development of Communities of Practice, particularly in the areas of HR Management and Nursing. This is a crucial signal that encourages us to further focus on building a high-quality medical team, ensuring comprehensive and specialized eye care services to maximally meet the growing needs of our patients.”

Commenting on the event, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Anh stated: “Attending the WAEH Annual Meeting at two major European centers is a strategic activity. It is not only an opportunity for Cao Thang Eye Hospital to learn, but also a platform for us to position ourselves as a credible academic and professional partner within the global ophthalmology network. With the goal of actively submitting scientific reports, sharing initiatives, and presenting practical implementation experiences in Vietnam, this demonstrates our development strategy: not just maintaining international standards but also proactively contributing to the advancement of the global ophthalmology industry.”
