ESCRS 2025: A meeting place for the world’s leading ophthalmology experts

Recently, a delegation of experts and doctors from the Saigon Eye Hospital System attended the 43rd Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

MSG expert team updates global ophthalmology trends at ESCRS 2025

The ESCRS Congress is known as Europe’s largest and most prestigious ophthalmology event. This year, it gathered more than 4,000 specialists and surgical doctors from around the world in the fields of cataract, refractive, and corneal surgery. Due to its high professional quality, the event was recognized by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 33.0 European CME credits (ECMEC®s), a credible guarantee of its academic and educational value.

The event serves as a prestigious scientific forum for experts to present the latest clinical research results, introduce groundbreaking technologies, and collectively shape the future direction of the global ophthalmology industry.

Updating groundbreaking technologies: From Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the new generation of laser surgery

The ESCRS 2025 conference program focused on groundbreaking technologies. The emphasis revolved around personalization in surgery, ranging from the application of data and digital technology to select the optimal intraocular lens (IOL) for each patient, to the increasingly important role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in diagnosis, planning, and predicting visual outcomes. Additionally, the conference looked back at the 30-year journey of the Femtosecond Laser, affirming its position as a foundational technology that consistently aims for safety, accuracy, and speed for patients.

Parallel to the technology sessions, ESCRS 2025 also created a space for in-depth professional exchange through specialized workshops such as Cornea Day, Glaucoma Day, and WSPOS Day (Pediatric Ophthalmology). Open discussion formats like World Café and the ESCRS Arena provided invaluable opportunities for doctors worldwide to interact directly, share practical experience in managing complex clinical cases, surgical complications, and update the newest, most effective treatment strategies.

The combination of technology updates and the exchange of experience in handling complex clinical cases helps doctors solidify their professional foundation, preparing them to apply the most advanced and safest treatment solutions for patients in Vietnam.
